Junk Bar presents

Nick Barker has been a familiar painting hanging on the walls of the Australian music scene since the late 80s. He started off as a bass player in Melbourne’s eclectic post-punk scene (most notably with The Wreckery), made it through four psychotic years of booze-soaked pub rock in Nick Barker and the Reptiles, then moved on to his solo career in 1994. He has seen the music industry spin, chase its tail, die, resurrect and do it over again. Thirty-five years later, he’s still here and no one is more surprised than him! Nick is happy to return to one of his favourite haunts for a one-off solo show. Coming up to 25 years since the release of his debut solo album, ‘Happy Man’, which spawned the JJJ Hottest 100 top 20 track, ‘Time Bomb’, he’s in a reflective mood: ‘I’ve been feeling nostalgic of late and am looking to play some of my favourite tracks from the six solo albums I made post-Reptiles. There’s no better spot to do it than at the Junk Bar, a rare gem of a place… Please come along, get a drink and feel free to hassle me about stuff I can’t remember. It’s gonna be another fun, cruisey night down Ashgrove way.
